Home & Community Care (HACC) is now part of the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP)

by Esther Lozano - Thursday, 2 July 2015

From 1 July 2015, Home & Community Care (HACC) has become part of the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) to help older people to remain at home and within their communities. For most people, the CHSP is the entry level of Australia's aged care system. Services provided include meals, domestic help, personal care, transport, home maintenance & modifications.

CHSP services will continue to be delivered by HACC providers in people’s local area or region. However, there are changes in the way older people will access a service, be assessed for a service and be provided a service type. Frequently asked questions about these changes are available here:

Other programs that are part of the single streamlined CHSP is the National Respite for Carers Program (NRCP), Day Therapy Centres (DTC) Program, and the Assistance with Care and Housing for the Aged (ACHA) Program.
