Premier Hosts ECC 35th Anniversary

The Premier of New South Wales, Kristina Keneally MP, hosted the 35th Anniversary of the Ethnic Communities’ Council of New South Wales on the 24th of November at Governor Macquarie Tower.

It was a time of celebration for over 150 of our members and important working partners, as we reflected on 35 years of successful advocacy work for our ethnic communities.

The Premier said the night was a “wonderful opportunity for all of us to celebrate the benchmark of diversity our State has become, and to recognise and thank the Ethnic Communities’ Council for its role in that incredible success story”.

The Premier also presented 35th Anniversary Outstanding Service Awards “for an enduring and loyal contribution to the Council and the principles of multiculturalism”. The Awards were presented to Treasurer Edna McGill OAM, Vice Chair Aziz Akbar OAM, Vice Chair George Varughese, Vice Chair Josie Lacey OAM, Executive Member Ross Tzannes AM and Chair Jack Passaris OAM.
