The Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Australia (FECCA) is the peak, national body representing Australians from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.  FECCA’s role is to advocate and promote issues on behalf of its constituency to government, public and private sectors, and the broader community.

 

The Director provides leadership and direction to FECCA for all day-to-day operational matters, in accordance with the direction and strategic framework established by the FECCA Executive.  The position provides support to FECCA Executive as it carries out its governance functions, and accomplishes FECCA's mission and vision as determined by FECCA Executive. 

 

The position works closely with full- and part-time staff to ensure compliance with relevant funding agreements and implementation of work plans.  The position drives and bolsters key relationships with FECCA members, partners and stakeholders.  In partnership with the FECCA Chair and the FECCA Executive, the Director is responsible for the long-term success and viability of the organisation.

 

KEY OBJECTIVES

The position implements the strategic direction set by the FECCA Executive;  undertakes day-to-day managements of the organisation and provides secretariat support to the FECCA Chair and the FECCA Executive;  assures sound fiscal management and legal compliance;  represents the organisation on committees and at meetings, as appropriate;  maintains and develops productive partnerships;  provides supportive leaderships to the staff;  prepares complex documents as part of the organisations’ policy and advocacy work.

  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 ·      Support FECCA Executive in determining and achieving FECCA's mission, vision, goals and objectives.

·      Implement strategic framework set by FECCA Executive and reports on progress, as appropriate.

·      Facilitate policy development by identifying issues and proposing approaches.

·      Provide general oversight of FECCA's day-to-day activities, and ensures smooth and efficient operations.

·      Provide leadership, advice and direction to the staff, as appropriate, in meeting the key responsibilities of their positions and undertakes performance reviews.

·      Oversee the fiscal activities of the organisation including budgeting, reporting and audit.

·      Ensure adequate financing to support the organisation's goals and objectives.

·      Assure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

·      Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with FECCA members and stakeholders, including relevant non-for-profit organisations and Government programs.

·      Assure proper representation of FECCA.
